All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Bauchi State in the just-concluded poll, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (rtd), has expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious at the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Bauchi.
Sadique, who described the Nigerian judicial system as very reliable, said the election tribunal in Bauchi would restore the mandate of Bauchi people given to the APC which was stolen during the March 18, 2023 governorship election in the state.
In an interaction with journalists in Bauchi yesterday, he said, “I believe that the judicial system in Nigeria is a system that is reliable, and I am sure at the end of the day, it will get the mandate back to us.”
The former chief of the air staff who was approached by the press shortly after his arrival in Bauchi from Abuja, added, “Once our mandate is back, all that we promised to the people would by God’s grace be fulfilled.”
He appreciated the people of the state, particularly members of the APC for their patience and understanding, considering what has happened after the 18th March gubernatorial elections in Bauchi.
Sadique therefore urged party members to continue to be peaceful and await the verdict of the governorship election tribunal which, he expressed optimism, would favour the APC in Bauchi and Nigeria.
The governorship election was contested by 14 political parties which was won by PDP’s candidate and incumbent governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who polled 525,280 votes to defeat his closest contender, Sadique, who had 432, 272 votes.
