Troops Arrest 70 Suspected Terrorists

Troops on internal security operations across the country have killed several terrorists, arrested 70 suspected others and rescued 21 kidnap hostages between 17 and 25 April 2025.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) stated this on Friday in a statement by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye who revealed that troops also arrested 29 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N94,116,476.00 within the period.

Maj.-Gen. Kangye said troops within the period also deactivated 35 illegal refining sites and 62 crude oil cooking ovens, 71 dugout pits, 18 boats, 3 speedboats, 36 storage tanks and 88 drums.

 

According to the director, the troops also recovered 89,684 litres of stolen crude oil, 46,538 litres of illegally refined AGO and 1,650 litres of DPK.

Other items recovered include within the period include pumping machines, drilling machines, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones and 4 vehicles.

 

Relatedly, troops recovered huge quantities of assorted arms including machine guns, RPG tubes, automatic weapons as well as locally fabricated guns and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

 

Furthermore, Kangye added that huge cache of ammunition and live cartridges were also recovered within the period in review.
