Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have neutralised five terrorists, foiled kidnapping attempts on church members and recovered cache of arms and ammunition in Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army, on its official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, said the troops achieved the feat while acting on actionable intelligence on the plan of the extremists to kidnap some church members while returning from a church programme in Wukari along Tor – Tse and Takum Road.
The statement said troops of 93 Battalion deployed in Wukari swiftly swung into action on 2 April 2024 and tactically laid in wait for the terrorists, made contact and engaged the terrorists in a fierce fun battle which led to the killing of four extremists.
At the end of the encounter, the troops recovered two AK-47 Rifles, one pump action rifle and two AK-47 magazine.
Similarly, on 27 March 2024, troops while on patrol around Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government area of the state, came in contact with terrorists.
The troops engaged them with superior fire power thereby killing one, and recovered one locally fabricated FN Pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and one mobile phone belonging to the criminal.
