Former United States President, Donald Trump, has been disqualified from the State of Colorado’s 2024 presidential primary ballot.

Trump was disqualified from the presidential primary ballot due to his involvement in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

On Tuesday, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled Trump was not fit to be president under the Fourteenth Amendment of the US Constitution, which prohibits US officers who have engaged in insurrection or rebellion from holding office.

The court rejected Trump’s free speech claims, saying: “President Trump’s speech on January 6 was not protected by the First Amendment.”

Meanwhile, a former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, some U.S governors; Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, have all criticised the court’s decision, arguing that judges should not play a role in the election process.
