VIP Spikers Volleyball Club of Abuja has been crowned champions of the 2025 National Division One Volleyball League (Women’s Category) following an impressive unbeaten run that saw them dominate both phases of the competition in Abia on Saturday.
The Vipers won all 20 matches, amassing a total of 59 points, securing automatic qualification for the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League.
Their stellar performance also earned them several individual awards, including Precious Nwadiogor as Best Middle Blocker, Gift Iwobi as Best Attacker, and Precious Terseer as Most Valuable Player.
Speaking after the victory, Team Manager Abiodun Suraj praised the players, led by captain Chilota Marvellous, for their determination and teamwork throughout the competition.
Suraj also congratulated the coaching staff, multiple national champions Franscica Ikhiede and John Pada, for making history with the team.
He stated, “The players have been exceptional from start to finish, showing real character, discipline, and a hunger to win every single match. This title is a reward for their hard work.”
He highlighted the team’s strategy of combining youthful energy with experience, describing it as the key to their success.
“Our philosophy is to invest in young players and give them a platform to grow. We blended youth with experience, and that balance paid off perfectly.”
Dressed in traditional Adire attire, Suraj noted that the intention was to promote Nigerian culture and portray the country positively.
He also expressed gratitude to the club’s sponsors for their unwavering support since the team’s inception just five months ago.
“We appreciate our sponsors for believing in us. Their support and logistics made this journey possible, and we’re proud to repay that faith with a championship.”
