The immediate past deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Dr. Emana Duke-Amaghwe, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside her supporters weeks ago has cited Governor Bassey Otu’s inclusive leadership style as the reason for her decision.

She stated this while speaking at the reception party organised by the Cross River State branch of APC over the weekend in Calabar.

Duke-Amaghwe stated that she was impressed by Otu’s commitment to treating all residents equally, regardless of tribe, cultural background, or political affiliation, a character that made her and her supporters decide to change their minds in favour of the APC.

She expressed admiration for the governor’s fatherly approach, embracing every Cross Riverian without resorting to divisive politics.

“Otu has touched all of our lives and we have seen his good works, driving investments and security in the appropriate direction in our state.

‘I do not take this for granted because as a farmer from Akpabuyo local government area of the state, I know how things used to be in Akpabuyo before he came on board.

“Today, I can go freely to my farm with peace of mind. People can now sleep with two eyes closed in that area under the watch of Gov. Bassey Otu”.She maintained.

Emana lauded Governor Otu for joining force with president Bola Tinubu in ensuring that that the renewed hope agenda of Mr. president come to fruition,

Stressing that Otu is among those who had made the initiative a success story when it comes to driving economic development in the region.

“We all sat down and had a rethink and made up our minds that yesterday is far gone, and that today wouldn’t be too late So we jumped into the train. Because the train was moving towards the right direction with the right person stirring that train.
“Again we did not want to be outside from the team that makes things happen.

“Even though the party told me that I and my supporters were in the team that fought the APC during the 2023 general elections they will open their door for us.

“Just like the governor once told me, Emana, you are my sister but you joined the wrong gang and I replied we changed our minds to join you because your team is a team that says something and makes it happen.

“Not like the team that says something and does the contrary. We say thank you and are happy to be part of the All Progressives Congress APC family.” She maintained.
