Nollywood actress Iniobong Edo, popularly known as Ini Edo, has opened up about motherhood and her decision to conceive via surrogacy.
Speaking during the latest episode of ‘Toke Moments’ hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa, Edo explained that she didn’t know how the public would perceive it.
She said, “It wasn’t a decision that I said I’ll just go and do this. I just knew that I wanted a child, and it wasn’t happening the way I wanted it to happen. I didn’t know what to expect or how the world would perceive it.
“What bothered me was; would I be able to love her as much if I carried her? Would she be okay?”
She further disclosed that she had concerns, but conversations with professionals put her at ease.
The actress also emphasized the importance of having a father figure in one’s life, as she admitted to being her father’s favorite.
She said, “I was waiting for the right person. I wanted to have a family. I wanted to do it with a man. I am my father’s favorite. Growing up, I was my father’s pet.
“For me, a father figure in a child’s life, especially a female child, was so important. My relationship with my father was so enviable even by my mum. They felt he favored me over everyone else. That’s what I wanted for my daughter.”
