Rotary Club in Rivers State, under District 9141, have revealed that they embark on projects in communities in the state because they know that such projects cannot be left to communities and government alone.
President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt GRA, Douglas Okafor, made the revelation while speaking with journalists after commissioning some renovated facilities at the Community Secondary School, Abuloma, in Port Harcourt City local government area of the state.
The projects, which include a block of classrooms and laboratories as well as a walkway, were jointly executed by the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt GRA, Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Creekview, Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Seaport and Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Urban.
Okafor, therefore, called on people of good means and good minds to join the Rotary family so that more projects could be executed for more communities in the state.
He said: “Even though this is a community school, community and government will not do everything.
We went back to our clubs, pulled up resources and what you are seeing today is the result of that effort.
“We don’t segregate; we all live in communities. Projects are picked depending on what the need is and what resources and partnerships are available to be able to cater for them.
“There are a lot of Rotary Clubs in this state and all over the world, they more people join, the more people of means, the more people of good mind, the more we will be able to reach farther and wider communities.”
