Netflix has released its latest documentary series, The Man With A 1,000 Kids on July 3. 2024.
The one-hour each, three-part documentary is about a male sperm serial donor, whom many families discovered that he is responsible for the existence of over hundreds to a thousand children across the world.
At first, like other viewers, a more rational person would think “Why is this a problem? They got what they wanted, didn’t they? Beautiful children with curly hair?” In fact, it’s easy to chalk it up as some rightly did, as Netflix’s ‘tabloid documentary’ which is unnecessary since which a 99% of sperm recipients’ are happy with the result” said @JonathanJacobMeijer. Or to the Generation X and Z’s need to feel ‘special’.
However, upon reflection, such reckless action creates a huge risk of these children accidentally dating their siblings in the future. Should he have a rare disease or condition, he risks transferring them to these children. Also, religiously speaking, it is immoral. The world has more than its share of homeless and orphaned children, why help breed more children that one has no intention of providing for?
However, rather than solely blaming the sperm donor, the sperm bank/banks has a lot to answer for in this situation. Like a commentator in the (1.26) a minute and twenty-six seconds official YouTube film trailer said – “When you are breeding livestock and cattle, that is more regulated than sperm donation.”
Don’t the donor facilities have a database of donors that should help them regulate sperm donation to prevent the occurrence of one donor fathering a number of children in a particular area, or at least inform prospective mothers/ families that a certain donor is in high demand in such an area? Shouldn’t there be a limit to the number of times a one can donate sperm? Hence, they can’t entirely blame the man, who certainly sees sperm donation as a paid job, where he can earn easy money.
So, while we pity the mothers who as some commentators and writers described as being scammed, there is some sense in what an online commentator @vagabond_Warrior said. “If they wanted an exclusive donor for only them then they should have used a family friend or found someone exclusive.”
“Let’s hope the children won’t feel unwanted since they don’t have the features and traits that they were originally chosen for. I hope they don’t feel like a mistake,” said netizen @newdrew2744.
Viewers can look forward to how the families made the connection/discovery of that one donor that fathered their children, and of course, the sinister twist alluded to in the trailer, and perhaps authorities’ reaction to this development. Still, a man birthing a thousand kids, seems at best, exaggerated.
That said, mark the date on July 3, 2024, to stream The Man With 1,000 Kids, to get your answers.
