World Cup Qualifier: Zimbabwe Players Threaten To Boycott Training Over Unpaid Allowances

Players of Zimbabwe’s senior men’s national team, Warriors, are threatening to boycott training over unpaid allowances.

The team is in Rwanda where they are preparing for their second Group C match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria‘s Super Eagles at Huye Stadium in Butare on Sunday.

In their first game on Wednesday, the Warriors held Rwanda to a goalless draw in their opening game.

According to The Herald, the players are disgruntled with the non-payment of their daily allowances by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee which have carried a bloated staff complement to Rwanda.

The players are also demanding something for the draw against Rwanda with reports that the ZIFA NC only wanted to pay US$2000 for a win and nothing for a draw.

It has emerged that the players never agreed to such an arrangement.

It was gathered that members of the ZIFA NC are in a marathon meeting to resolve the matter.
