Nigeria’s ambassador to Jordan and Iran, Faruku Malami Yabo, has ditched the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Malami, was Sokoto State APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019, and one of the party governorship aspirants in the race for the 2023 governorship ticket.

The former commissioner of finance and local government affairs in the administration of Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, announced his defection at the PDP statewide campaign rally in Yabo, his local government.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at the rally he said, “I feel relief leaving my former party to join people of like minds in moving our state forward.

“This decision was not mine alone but, it became the best option for us, in retrospect of our commitment and investment in APC. I therefore enjoined my supporters across the state to see reason with us and move en masse  into PDP.”

Meanwhile, the director general of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has alleged that the opposition political party is amassing money to buy people’s votes ahead of next month’s elections.

Tambuwal addressing party faithfuls at the statewide campaign rally in Binji local government area of the state raised the alarm that, the opposition party, which he didn’t mention, is plotting to use the money stolen by its members while in the service of the country, to craftily take away voters card from eligible voters.

“I have got information that those in the other party are going round collecting people’s PVCs. Do not give them your voters card. They know that, God willing, they have failed the elections, that is why they are trying to collect your PVCs. If they collect your voters card, they won’t return them to you. And, on voting day, it would be difficult for you to vote without your PVCs.

“So, you should not allow anyone to deceive you. They are amassing money for this purpose. They have brought you insecurity and now they want to buy you votes. They did not, as people who hold positions in the federal government, provide security operatives with the wherewithal to protect your lives and property, but they want to use the money they stole to disenfranchise you.

“If they bring the money, collect it from them and vote for the PDP at all levels.”

Canvassing for votes for the state PDP gubernatorial candidate, Malam Sa’idu  Umar, Tambuwal assured that all projects started by his administration  will be completed by him.

In his remarks, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Malam Sa’idu Umar expressed appreciation to the people for their political support to the party.

“We are not particularly here for the electioneering campaign, but to thank you for your support to us in 2019; and your backing since we kick started this campaign.”

He reiterated his willingness to sustain the legacies of the Tambuwal administration as he pledges to improve on them as well.
