The All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the director-general of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, have called for unity among the party members in diaspora to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

They spoke during a Strategic Global Diaspora Conference organised by the Directorate of Diaspora and Global Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

In a statement issued yesterday by Henry Balogun-led Media Team of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, United Kingdom (UK), said Yilwatda, stressed the need for unity among diaspora communities, effective communication of government reforms and achievements, and the establishment of structured media teams to counter misinformation and wrong narratives while promoting Nigeria’s achievements and image globally.

The APC chairman spoke extensively on the need for diaspora involvement in voter education, investment mobilisation, and the promotion of Tinubu’s administration.

Governor Uzodinma, in his remarks, emphasised the importance of diaspora unity and grassroots mobilisation in supporting Tinubu’s administration to ensure victory in the 2027 elections.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, who is the deputy director-general of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, stressed the importance of diaspora involvement in the organisation’s activities, noting that “our diaspora can effectively mobilise grassroots support and contribute to electing the President.”

Dr Bernard Doro, the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, spoke on connecting Diaspora capacity with grassroots governance, highlighting the importance of establishing a strong media team involving young Nigerians to showcase government achievements and counter misinformation effectively.

Similarly, the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Chief Tayo Ayinde, who is also the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State, spoke extensively about the economic reforms and achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.

He highlighted some positive developments, including SShell’s return to Nigeria, massive infrastructure development, and the introduction of interest-free loans for students through NELFund.

Speaking in the same vein, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and the Director, Diaspora Directorate, pledged her commitment to engage the millions of APC members in the Diaspora on effective and efficient communication strategies and policy dissemination.

The APC Diaspora coordinating Chairman, Mr Tunde Doherty, and Mr Tayo Shodeinde, the Operational Director for Renewed Hope Ambassadors, both described the meeting as an August gathering of the APC Diaspora Community, featuring leaders and representatives from various chapters worldwide to strengthen coordination across different regions for the party’s future initiatives.

Participants who spoke at the virtual session promised total support and effective mobilisation of members towards the actualisation of set objectives.

The event, moderated by Mac Babafemi, serves as a platform to foster unity among Diaspora members and to discuss ongoing efforts to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda, the statement said.

Generally, participants’ discussion centred on the importance of grassroots engagement and unity among Diaspora communities, creating a compendium of President Tinubu’s achievements for sharing among the Diaspora and improved communication channels, with calls for better coordination with government officials and direct access to leadership.

The global virtual meeting, which will be a continuous programme, drew over 600 participants across five continents, including Africa, the UK, America, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
