Yobe Govt Approves N379.4m For Sesame Clearing, Packing Machines

In an effort to help farmers produce qualitative products for improved value chain, the Yobe State executive council has approved the procurement of Julite sesame seed clearing and packing machines in the state.

 Yobe has been a leading state in the production of sesame cash crops with all the 17 local government areas especially those at the northern fringes supply sesame in commercial quantity at the end of every farming season. 

The commissioner of Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Hon. Mohammed Lamin, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting in Damaturu, said the measure was meant to improve production. 

Lamin said the council has as part of measures to also enhance economic activities, the council also approved the construction of a modern market in Geidam town, the headquarters of Geidam local government area.

 “Also approved was the procurement of four Nos. Julite sesame seed, clearing and packing machines at the total cost of N379, 475, 000.00.

“It also considered and approved the construction of the Geidam Modern Market at the cost of N3, 894, 764, 036.56.”

 The commissioner further said, “Council also approved N1, 251, 489, 253.62 for the construction of Mega Shopping Mall in Damaturu. 

“It also considered revised additional works and augmentation for the construction of Potiskum Track Transit Park at the cost of N1, 442, 071, 767.61,” Lamin revealed. 

The commissioner said the council has also approved the sum of N3, 129, 608, 370.00 for the procurement of empowerment materials.
