Yobe Stakeholders Hold Engagement On Mapping GBV Service Providers

The Multi-Sectoral Crises Recovery Project (MCRP), Yobe state project Coordination Unit has organised a stakeholders engagement meeting and training of Enumerators for the mapping of Gender Based Violence (GBV) service providers in the state.
The stakeholders engagement meeting and Enumerators training which took place in Damaturu drew participants from across Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps ,ministries of women affairs, Health, Religious affairs, justice, enumerators and Youth.
Others include FIDA , Civil Society Organizations as well as Christian Association and Muslim Ummah Forum respectively.
The Yobe State Project Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Idi Jidawa while speaking on the programme described the meeting as critical, saying all the invited organizations are the key drivers in the prevention of gender based violence in Yobe state.
Jidawa stated that the Multi-sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) is involved in rehabilitation of critical infrastructure such as health facilities, agric infrastructure, WASH facilities that may likely trigger labour influx.

further revealed that MCRP has evolved a number of control measures on activities within the communities such as sensitization of community members on the GBV and the need for parents and caregivers to safeguard their children, especially young girls who are in the habit of hawking.
Other measures he said include provision of food items around construction sites, training of contractors and their workers on the key responsibilities in the prevention of GBV incidence and signing of code of conduct on GBV prevention by workers.
“The process of preparing the ESMP is robust in such a way that stakeholders’ inputs are given a premium and all potential environmental and social risks are assessed, preventive measures are assigned and responsibilities are shared for the implementation of the proposed mitigation plan.
