The ongoing war of words between Afrobeat Burna Boy and Wizkid has escalated, with Burna Boy openly challenging the “Essence” singer to a physical confrontation.
This latest development follows a heated exchange that began after Wizkid condemned Burna Boy and his entourage for the alleged assault of DJ Tunez at a Lagos nightclub on Monday.
Wizkid had slammed the move, describing the use of a “10-man team” to settle scores as a sign of weakness.
In a new viral video, Burna Boy dismissed Wizkid’s criticisms, mocking him for “fighting” only through social media posts. He claimed that while Wizkid relies on the internet for influence, he operates in the “real world.”
“Wizkid is just there tweeting. Their power is only online. Our own power is in real life. I thought DJ Tunez would call his boss and his boss would do something or send people, but Wizkid is just tweeting,” Burna Boy stated in Pidgin English.
The “Last Last” singer also denied reports that he teamed up with ten other men to attack the disc jockey, insisting that he handled the situation personally.
DJ Tunez, Wizkid’s official DJ, has remained at the centre of the controversy, which has already led the Nigerian DJ Association to reportedly ban Burna Boy’s music.
