Youth Leader Hands Over Renovated School To Edo Govt

Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament and chairman Prince Uwagboe Foundation, Hon Osawemwenhio Uwagboe has handed over a fully-rebuilt school in his village to the Edo State government.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the Edo State Universal Education Board at Amayo Primary School Odighi in Ovia North-East local government area of the state.

The state government has formally taken possession of the completed primary school, which was renovated by Uwagboe and his friends through his foundation, Prince Uwagboe Foundation.

Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki who was represented by the commissioner for youths and humanitarian affairs, Hon Zubairu Abubakar commended the facilitator and his friends for the project.

Obaseki stated that the state government is committed to education for all and urged youths to contribute their fair share to society because the government alone cannot deliver on all the dividends of governance.

The special adviser to the governor on youth and student matters, Hon Shadrach Udugbai, who emphasized the importance of youth in nation building, praised the facilitator for giving back to his community and thanked the elders and people of Odighi community for their support throughout the renovation work.

Uwagboe, facilitator and speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, explained that his love for education influenced his decision to give back to his community while following in the footsteps of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the education sector.

He stated that after seeing the dilapidated state of the school, which was vandalised by hoodlums in late 2021, he decided to collaborate with his friends through his foundation, the Prince Uwagboe Foundation for Youths and Students, to build a suitable structure for the community’s students to study and learn.
