The Gbenga Power Foundation has assisted 5000 people in Ifelodun, Offa, Oyun federal constituency in Kwara State with cash and food items to enable them to feed their families during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The items were presented to the beneficiaries at the ECWA School open field in Igbaja, Ifelodun local government area.
Traditional leaders, political officeholders, religious leaders, and community members from the constituency witnessed the event.
The gathering also provided a platform for discussions on the future of Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun federal constituencies.
The state secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji AbdulLateef Isowo, commended the donor for his interest in the beneficiaries’ wellbeing.
The vice chairman of Ifelodun local government, Hon. Nike Ajibola, who represented the chairman, Hon. Femi Yusuf, thanked the Gbenga Power Foundation for its consistent support for society’s less privileged members.
She expressed the readiness of the council to collaborate with organisations that prioritise the welfare of the people.
The lawmaker representing Omupo constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. AGF Salahudeen, encouraged other wealthy people in the area to emulate the exemplary conduct of Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle by helping the poor.
A stalwart of the foundation, Feyisara Abdulazeez highlighted the organisation’s impact across the federal constituency over the last year.
Among other things, Abdulazeez said the foundation had provided motorised boreholes to some communities in the three local governments that make up the constituency, subvention for farmers and market women, JAMB forms for students and full scholarships for recipients who excelled in the tertiary
placement examination.
He praised the foundation’s chairman, Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle, for his support over the past 10 years as the organisation has reached out to the needy.
The foundation chairman, Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle, said that the palliatives he distributed to the needy were meant to complement the efforts of the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to ameliorate the suffering of society’s downtrodden members.
