10 Months After, Gov Kefas Appointees Yet To Get Salaries

Kefas Appointees Yet To Get Salaries

Barely 10 months and some weeks after the announcement of the members of the boards, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, the aides are yet to get their monthly salaries and allowances.

Kefas announced the first batch of the appointees through the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Barr. Gibon Kataps on the 19th of June  2024, with 134 of the appointees on the list, and the second list was announced on the 25th of the same month, with 61 names.

Subsequent names of the SSAs, SAs, and Constituency SAs released through the office of the SSG Kataps after 25 June 2024 currently stand at 1,764 aides appointed by the governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas.

Although the appointees were inaugurated on February 25, 2025, and the documentation was completed on February 27, 2025, no official appointment letter was issued to any of the appointees.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the few aides out of the 1,764 who were issued appointment letters through the office of the SSG include the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Hon. Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser on Security Matters, Hon. Charles Maijankai, and Special Adviser on Political Matters, Hon. Josiah Sabo Kente.

Our correspondent further gathered that the rest of the 1,761 appointees got their areas of specialisation through the list as it was posted on social media.

Lamenting the lark of salaries and allowances after almost a year of their appointment, some of the appointees pleaded with Governor Kefas to speed up actions by ensuring they are captured for monthly payment of salaries and allowances, stating that they have gone through series of distress in the hands of their locals since they were announced as aides to the governor.

Most of the appointees who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation from their boss said they have shouldered a lot of burdens in the name of being appointed as aides to the governor without having the financial backing from the governor to complement their expenditures.
