Abia State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ngozi Ezeoma confirmed this on Thursday in a statement sighted by LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state’s capital.

According to the statement, the accident involved a Nissan Caravan commercial bus with registration no. SSM 320 ZR conveying 19 passengers to Enugu and a stationary HOWO truck registered with T2828LA.

“A combine rescue team from FRSC RS 9.31 Aba and RS 9.32 km78 Aba Unit Commands arrived at the scene of the crash within 5 minutes of notice and conducted rescue operations,” Ezeoma explained.

The statement, which noted that both the injured and the victims were taken to a hospital and a mortuary in Aba, said preliminary investigations pointed at over speeding as the cause of the crash.
