Delta State police command has confirmed the death of two kidnappers terrorising Warri and environs.
They were apprehended on December 24 when operatives of ‘ B’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Warri, while on night surveillance patrol along Okumagba Estate Roundabout in Warri South local government area, intercepted a tricycle with two male occupants.
The suspects were taken into custody and upon further interrogation, they allegedly confessed to be members of a five-man kidnapping syndicate operating in Warri and environs.
The police public relations officer, Bright Edafe said the suspects confessed to be members of a five – man kidnapping syndicate.
“Acting on their confessions, the suspects led police operatives to their hideout at a house located in Upper Erejuwa Street, where one AK49 rifle with breach No. 11876, one locally-made double barrel long gun and two machetes were recovered.
“On their way back to the police station, the two suspects jumped out of the moving police Hilux vehicle in an attempt to escape, but the operatives gave them a hot chase,” he said.
“In a bid to demobilise them, they were maimed by the operatives and rearrested. The suspects gave up the ghost while they were being taken to the hospital.
A manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing,” Edafe revealed.
