2023 Budget: Gombe Governor Parleys Citizens, Restates Commitment To Transparency, Accountability

Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in handling governance for the benefit of people in the state.

The governor declared this while addressing stakeholders at the opening of a one day town hall meeting  to collate inputs towards preparations of 2023 budget.

Represented by his deputy, Manassah Daniel Jatau, the governor said people were invited from all nooks and crannies of the state to give inputs because government sees all people in the state as important and therefore treat their opinions with diligence.

He said despite the commencement of the 2023 electioneering activities,  his administration will remain resolute and focus to achieving the goals as may be set by the stakeholders as they summit their proposals.

Governor Inuwa maintained that his government will continue giving priority to health care delivery, education,  water supply,  infrastructure,  rural development and human capital development as may be captured in the next year budget.

The governor further explained that the administration will remain prudent and sustain fiscal discipline in the expenditure of public funds taking into consideration the public finance management reforms which were aimed at conserving scarce resources and deploying them efficiently.

In his remark,  Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mohammed Abubakar  Luggerewo, represented by the chairman, House committee on appropriation,  Hon Ali Baba Manu appreciated the process of inviting communities to submit the areas of their major needs and assured that on their part they make sure that all the contributions of the communities are well captured in the budget

Commissioner for Finance, Muhammad  Gambo Magaji, said the Inuwa administration, since inception, has been carrying people of communities along by allowing them make proposal of their priorities explaining that some projects which were suggested by groups or communities in a meeting of this kind last year have been executed citing roads construction in kwami LGA,  the reconstruction of Kumo General hospital and cottage hospital Kuri as examples.

The special  adviser to the governor on Budget, Planning and Development Partners  Coordination office, Dr Ishiyaku  Muhammed,  represented by the permanent secretary of the office, Abubakar  Daudu  Gadam, who explained the stages of  budget preparation said they held similar meetings with stakeholders in each Senatorial Districts so that every community in the state will be well captured in the budget.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, the senior district head of  Gombe, Abdulkadir  Abubakar Umar, the Yeriman Gombe, thanked Governor Yahaya for the commitment and determination in fulfilling his promises and for carrying the traditional institution along,  also called on youths to support the government because all that are achieved now is for their benefits.
