In preparation for the upcoming Hajj 2025 exercise, Comerel Travels and Tours has hosted an insightful induction course to equip prospective pilgrims with essential knowledge of their pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
The event, held recently at the National Mosque’s conference room in Abuja, featured presentations of thoroughly researched papers by industry experts on the theoretical, practical, and health aspects of the spiritual journey to the Holy Land.
The managing director of Comerel Travels and Tours, Ustaz Abubakr Siddeeq, said the purpose of the induction course was to prepare pilgrims for the significant spiritual journey effectively. “The essence of this induction course programme, which we organise annually, is to prepare you for this all-important journey to the Holy Land,” Ustaz Siddeeq stated.
Siddeeq, represented by the company’s general manager, Mr Yusuf Usman, noted that each year’s Hajj presents unique challenges.
“Every year has its peculiarities; no two Hajj experiences are the same, as my Managing Director often says. This year, we are facing distinct challenges regarding patronage. Many organisations are struggling to secure enough passengers due to high exchange rates.
“While some may perceive the Hajj fees as elevated, we assure you that the fees remain the same. For instance, if we charged 10,000 Riyals previously, it remains at 10,000 Riyals this year; the perceived increase is due to the fluctuation in currency exchange rates. If dollars were previously exchanged at N800 and are now at N1600, this effectively doubles the price and limits many from affording the pilgrimage this year, which has been a common concern.”
Despite these challenges, Ustaz Siddeeq praised the resilience of Comerel Travels and Tours, stating that they have effectively managed to secure passengers and utilise their allocation efficiently. “Comerel is an integral and active member of AHUON, and the issues facing the Hajj industry affect everyone. Each organisation must find its way to adapt and remain competitive. For those who opted out of this year’s Hajj, it is often due to a lack of options. However, our long-standing customers are our priority, and we must continue to serve them, as our services are unique.”
He further highlighted that Comerel offers a VIP Hajj service tailored to the specific needs of its pilgrims. “We are determined to continue providing this service despite our difficulties. We aim to learn from complaints and improve yearly, ensuring we maintain an edge within the industry.”
Ustaz Saidu Is’haq, Comerel Travels and Tours Ameerul Hajj and one of the event’s resource persons, urged participants to take the Hajj rites seriously and avoid distractions that could hinder them from reaping the maximum rewards of the pilgrimage.
