Eminent traditional rulers in Baruten local government area of Kwara State have restated their commitment to power shift to the Kwara North come 2027 general elections.

The first class monarchs made their position known at a special prayer session they organised for the federal and state governments held at Kosubosu, the headquarters of Baruten local government area.

At the prayer session jointly officiated by the chief Imams of Okuta, Ilesha-Baruba, Yashikira and Gwanara, the organisers sought for divine guidance, security, economic prosperity, and political stability for the administrations of President Bola  Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State.

In his remarks, the chairman of Baruten local government area , Hon. Isa Jibril commended the Emirs for demonstrating excellent leadership by organising the prayer.

Jibril explained that the people felt the need to support the government both at the federal and the state levels and  for God’s continuous divine intervention and wisdom for President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq.

The Emir of Okuta, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Serobetete III, called on all Kwara Northerners to unite beyond party affiliations and work collectively towards ensuring that the region produces the next governor.

He also solicited the support of compatriots from Kwara Central and Kwara South for the 2027 Kwara north agenda.

The Emir of Ilesha, Prof. Abubakar Halidu praised President Tinubu and appreciated Governor AbdulRazaq’s sterling performance, describing him as a man of integrity and sincerity “who would honor his promise to support Kwara North’s agenda in 2027.”

According to Prof Halidu, ” since 1999 Kwara North has never tasted the position (of governorship). The Kwara South has used eight and the Kwara Central 20 years ( by the end of second term of the incumbent governor) . The time has come for Kwara North to be considered.”

The Emir of Yashikira, Alh Usman Sariki Sabi  called for concerted and sustained efforts to actualise Kwara North 2027 mandate.
