Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has called on the people of the state to come out and participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
The governor made the call during the commissioning of a mosque in the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Aminu Usman noted that thousands of youths are eligible to vote but do not have voter cards. He stressed the importance of encouraging such individuals to register.
“Participation in the electoral process is not only a civic right but also a responsibility for every good citizen who loves democracy and good governance in Nigeria,” he said.
He then called on every stakeholder in the state to join hands in advocating for and supporting the exercise to ensure its success.
In his speech on the occasion, the Emir of Dutse, His Highness Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, called on politicians and the general public to avoid violence during and after elections.
The Emir warned that any act of violence during or after an election has never made a positive impact on society. Rather, it always sets the community back.
