Three children, including a grandchild, were killed in the early hours of yesterday when their vehicle collided with a stationary sewage disposal truck on the Oviri Ikwerre Flyover in Port Harcourt.

LEADERSHIP Friday learnt that the driver of the vehicle, his daughter and younger sister, sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

It was gathered that the victims were retiring from a cross-over night service when the accident occurred.

The Rivers State Police Command is yet to issue any statement on the accident, but a senior official of the command, who pleaded for anonymity, said the driver of the vehicle slept off on the steering.

“From our preliminary investigation, the driver of the vehicle slept off while driving and that was why he couldn’t see the stationery vehicle before him.
