72 Hours’ Directive: Kebbi Labour Unions Seeks Extension Of Time For Implementation

Following the directive by Governor Nasir Idris for the immediate payment of the new minimum wage of N75,000 to workers in Kebbi State within 72 hours after he signed the new bill into law, the three main labour unions, Nigeria Union of Local government Employees (NULGE ), Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWU) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kebbi State Chapters, have unanimously requested for two additional weeks to implement the payment.

The three unions’ leaders made this request to the governor during a press conference on Friday at the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Birnin Kebbi.

Addressing journalists president of NULGE in the state, Comrade Abubakar Sadiq said due to time constraints,  the unions are appealing to the governor to extend the time frame for a period of not less than two weeks to complete the exercise.

He noted that the governor can direct the release of October salary to workers immediately to avoid unnecessary hardship.

He appealed to workers in the state to exercise patience with the union’s plea to the governor as the best would come to their way as soon as the capturing exercise is completed.
