The Senate has responded to allegations that the list of committees has been hijacked in the villa, stating that it is not an appendage of the executive.

According to the Senate, committees were not hijacked from the villa, adding that it has set up committees to ensure that all members of the 10 Assembly are carried along.

Even though the Senate spokesman, Sen Yermi Adaramodu could not be reached as at the time of filing this report, a close ally of the Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the legislature is not an appendage of the executive.

According to the lawmaker, the Senate is in good relationship with the executive adding that it does not undermine their independence.

“The Senate is not an appendage of the executive. We run a government that has separation of powers.
