Terna Tarka, the ex-husband of Big Brother Naija All-Stars housemate, Venita Akpofure, has clarified the myth about Tiv men giving their wives out to their guests, saying the claim was false.

He said Tiv men are protective of their wives and daughters, hence they can’t even engage in such practice.

Recall that Venita was recently slammed for claiming that “Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes” while on the recently-concluded Season 8 of the reality TV show.

Her claim prompted the Lagos State chapter of Mdzough U Tiv to demand an “incontrovertible and unreserved public apology” from her.

LEADERSHIP reports that Venita had to apologise to the Tiv people of Benue State and beyond over her comment, saying she was quoted out of context.

However, in a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, Venita’s ex-husband, Terna Tarka, has addressed the controversial narrative.

“This is regarding the statement that when Tiv men host their guests, they give their wives out for pleasure purposes.

“Speaking as a proud Tiv man who was born into one of the most prominent families to come out of the Middle Belt region and the first grandson of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka, I’d like to categorically state that in all my years of hosting my guests, even the thought of such a derogatory practice has never crossed my mind. Therefore, such a thing never occurred in my marriage,” Terna stated.

Terna, whose grandfather was a Minister of Transportation and Communication, added that the alleged practice has never occurred or existed.

“Tiv men are fiercely protective over their wives and daughters.

“As the proud father of two Tiv girls, it is important that I emphasise that Tiv women are not objects to be owned or used.”

He thanked his ex-wife Venita for “being a truly amazing and wonderful mother” to their daughters.
