Contrary to claims in certain quarters that the immediate past governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola abandoned the Osun technical colleges upgrade project, the spokesman of former governor, Ismail Omipidon, has said his principal made an attempt to revive the project.

Reacting to the statement credited to Governor Ademola Adeleke during his visit to the Abuja office of the general manager of Skill G Innovation Hub, Mr Meir Dagan, that the technical colleges project was abandoned by the Oyetola’s administration, Omipidan said it was not true.

According to Omipidan, when his principal came on board, he met Dagan and his team in Skill G severally in a bid to revive the project adding that the project cost was reviewed upward by about N2 billion by Skill G citing inflation as their reason.
He noted that it was agreed that the government should pay them a substantial sum to begin with and as a mark of government seriousness to revive the project, payments were made.

Omipidan stated that the second attempt was thwarted by COVID-19 while another effort was made through a series of meetings involving Oyetola, Prof. Olu Aina (a voluntary adviser to the state on technical education/skill G project) and Dagan and his team.

“It was at one of such meetings that it was agreed that the outstanding on the project should be paid in six equal installments to enable Skill G to restart the whole project and that the project too should be delivered in installments beginning with Osogbo and Ife technical colleges.

“And my principal started the payment by installment. So, how can a man who came this far with the project be accused of abandoning the same project?”
