Eid-el-Fitr: Niger Gov, Etsu Nupe, Senators Urge Unity, Selflessness

The Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Niger State was marked yesterday with calls from traditional and political leaders in the state on the need for selflessness and kindness for the good of the society

In Kontagora, Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago joined thousands of Muslims at the Central Eid Praying Ground to perform the two-unit open air congregational prayer to mark the end of Ramadan.

The governor called on all Muslim faithful to continue to imbibe the lessons learnt in the month of Ramadan to remain selfless, show kindness and maintain good neighbourliness.

In Bida, the Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another to foster peace and national unity.

The monarch made the call while addressing his people after the two Raka’at prayers at the Bida Eid Praying Ground yesterday.

He said there was the need for Nigerians to ensure peaceful co-existence in the country so as to ensure economic growth and development.

The Emir (Sarkin Sudan) of Kontagora, Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II lauded the governor for coming to celebrate Eid with the people of the emirate and prayed to Allah for the success of governments at all levels

Speaking to his people at his palace in Minna, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umaru Farouk Bahago, admonished his people on peaceful coexistence and prayers for the country.
