Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has ordered the immediate allocation of 110 housing units to affected applicants who successfully complied with the set rules out of the 200 subscribers.

Abiodun’s directive to the state’s Ministry of Housing was coming on the heels of the widespread controversy trailing the state government’s housing scheme christened, “Prince Court Estate” for which over 200 applicants applied but were not allotted even two years after completing payment for the housing units.

Briefing journalists about the latest development on the allottees, the state’s commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi said successful allottees emerged on merit having considered, “individual’s circumstances and the basis of first come, first served.”

Omoniyi, who explained that allocation to successful subscribers will begin as from next week Monday, disclosed that a total number of 54 applicants are still having their documents being scrutinized, while 36 others have their applications totally cancelled for defaulting either in the stipulated conditions for payments or having involved themselves in multiple applications among other rules violated by the subscribers.

Giving an overview of the Ogun State Housing sector in the past five years, Omoniyi said the sector under Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration was a non-for-profit scheme of which the state government highly subsidized and as such, was meant to ease the challenges of befitting accommodation which residents of the state had been living with previously.

Emphasizing that the present administration accepted responsibilities for all its actions and would not shy away from any, the commissioner further explained that decisions taken for allocations of the housing units came with “some parameters” which his ministry will not compromise irrespective of the status of any of the applicants.

He urged members of the public to see the aggrieved subscribers now accusing the state of not allocating them portions as those who defaulted or flouted the pre-conditions earlier set out for applications in their respective forms.
