TGI Group Shines At AMGA 2024, Supporting Military Collaboration

TGI Group, a key player in Nigeria’s economic landscape, has reaffirmed its dedication to corporate citizenship by proudly supporting the 2nd African Military Games (AMGA) 2024.

The AMGA 2024, held in Abuja from November 18 to 30, brought together military personnel across Africa under the theme: “Enhancing Africa’s Military Cooperation Through Sports’, withTeam Nigeria emerging champions by dominating the medal table with 234 medals, comprising 114 golds, 65 silvers and 45 bronze medals.

Vice Chairman – TGI Group, Mr Farouk Gumel, lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“As an organization that values excellence, we must acknowledge the resilience and excellence of our gallant Nigeria Armed Forces. Their remarkable achievement at AMGA 2024 cements Nigeria’s position as a continental leader in this regard as well,” he said.

Mr Gumel further expressed that TGI Group’s support for servicemen and women extends beyond the Games. “We deeply respect the sacrifices made by our military personnel to ensure a safe society. Therefore, we are also happy to support veterans in various capacities including employment across our businesses. This aligns with our mission to foster unity, strength, and impactful partnerships,” he concluded.

Brig. Gen. Anthony Onibaasa (Rtd), TGI Group’s Director of Corporate Security, commended the military’s efforts and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, for championing the event.

“The unity built through these Games is invaluable. I commend the Nigerian military for their vision and the Commander-in-Chief for his unwavering support,” Onibasa said.

AMGA 2024 also featured TGI Group’s exhibition stand in the fan zone, where attendees explored the Group’s diverse product offerings, participated in interactive activities and win exciting prizes.

As Nigeria became the overall winner of the games, Algeria, billed to host the 3rd edition, came second with 96 medals, consisting of 53 gold, 22 silver and 21 bronze medals. Kenya clinched 3rd place with 59 total medals; 21 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze.
