Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in collaboration with Take 7 Media is set to premiere a new series entitled ‘Hidden Riches’.
The 13-episode series to air on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) from January 27, the series co-writer Emil Garuba said highlights Nigeria’s solid minerals potential, in addition to promoting sustainable mining practices in the nation.
The plot follows three characters, Geologist, Dr Doofan Adasu, Businessman Ibrahim Shagari, and Environmentalist, Ifeoma Nwosu, as they navigate power politics, corporate interests and environmental pollution challenges in the fight to ensure resource management, community empowerment, and deal with the human cost of development.
Each episode will build upon the previous in order to sustain drama and educational impact on the targeted audience aged 13 to 45 years.
Co-writer and Sutoritera founder, Garuba said the choice to premiere on NTA lies in the widespread reach of the local television station across the country, in both urban and rural areas, which meets the project’s objective to engage its targeted demographic on solid minerals.
“Our objectives,” said Garuba, “is to educate viewers about the potential of Nigeria’s solid minerals as an alternative revenue source, promote sustainable mining practices, encourage dialogue on environmental conservation and economic development, and inspire national pride and responsibility towards natural resources.”
“The series balances educational messaging and entertainment … with creative freedom exercised within the framework of the ministry’s goals. This ensured that narrative stays compelling while delivering its educational objectives.”
Produced by Take 7 Media’s Bem Pever, ‘Hidden Riches’ is written by Emi Garuba and Chiji Ononiwu, with Pever and Amaka Crème as directors. It casts Franca Igwe, Abraham Alhassan, Amadi King, Preach Bassey, Iveren Antiev, Sydney Diala, P.J Ikwuagwu among others.
