UNIZIK Seeks NUJ Partnership To Enhance Staff Productivity, Academic Excellence

The acting vice-chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, has sought partnership with journalists to train and enhance staff productivity and promote academic excellence in the citadel of learning.

Ikechebelu, while playing host to State Working Committee members and other stakeholders of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council at his office, yesterday said he was optimistic that the collaboration would be beneficial to all concerned.

He said, “We are committed to providing a conductive environment for effective teaching and learning. The University is very calm, peaceful and progressing. We are thriving. We need a media partnership to go higher. We want to have a productive staff, and happy productive students. When our staff are happy, and students are happy, they will be progressing.

“We have accepted to give NUJ a hand of fellowship to get done with whatever plans they have to boost our academic activities. We will help to train their members and our staff, collaborate in the next three years of Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu’s administration to make Anambra State and Nigeria proud,” he stated.

He commended Dr Odogwu on his achievements in office during his first three years and urged him to double his efforts in his second term, be magnanimous in victory and embrace teamwork so as to achieve more in the second term.

Earlier in his speech state NUJ chairman explained that the visit was aimed at pledging solidarity and partnership with the acting vice-chancellor, and urged him to sustain his various innovative strategies towards transforming the university.

It would be recalled that on Friday last week the NUJ, Anambra State Council, reelected Odogwu as chairman and other new officers including Comrade Beatrice Onuchukwu, Vice Chairman; Comrade Okechukwu Onuegbu, Secretary; Comrade Chinyere Ogbuagu, assistant secretary; Comrade Chibuzo Obidike, treasurer; and Comrade Ogochukwu Onwukwe, financial secretary.
