Gov Eno Felicitates With Muslims At Sallah

kwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno, has extended his hands of fellowship to the Muslim community in the state, praying the Almighty Allah to grant them the grace for a hitch-free Sallah celebration.

He also enjoined them to imbibe the virtues of love for one another irrespective faith and to ensure that they continue to coexist peacefully with other residents of the state.

The governor gave the charge when he hosted the Hausa/Fulani Muslims to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at the Hilltop Mansion, Government House, Uyo.

He noted that the state is unique for its hospitality and has peacefully coexisted with all its non-indigenes stressing that such spirit must be maintained and sustained for the development of the state.

“I want to thank you especially for the peace that you have promoted in the state, and your sense of responsibility for always stepping in to work with us in resolving misunderstandings between herdsmen and our farmers. We all should know that nobody’s businesses should affect another’s so that we can live together harmoniously and happily,” he said.

The governor appreciated the Muslim community for giving the state government the opportunity to share in the breaking of the fast stressing that it has become almost a tradition for him to identify with them during Ramadan.

“We thank you so much for allowing us the privilege to share the moment and the blessings with you because every fasting is a period of blessing not just for you that are fasting, but also for the land, the state and the nation, and this year’s period tallies with the Christian Lent where so much prayers have been offered to God for our overall well-being,” he added.

The governor disclosed that his relationship with the Muslim community predated the present government, saying he has always had the predisposition of relating with people from various backgrounds irrespective of religion, tribe, culture, political or social persuasions.
