The decision was reached during the 14th Executive Committee meeting of the FCTA, chaired by the FCT minister.

In a statement by the minister’s senior special assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, the event will kick off on June 10, 2025, showcasing key infrastructural developments.

“The commissioning of projects will commence on June 10, 2025, and will run for 19 days.

“Key Projects for Commissioning Include: Renovated Abuja International Conference Centre, Bus Terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi, Apo-Wassa Road, N16 Interchange and connecting roads (Maitama-Katampe-Jahi), Inner Northern Expressway (Idu-Kubwa Road),” he stated.

Others are CN8 Road (Obafemi Awolowo Way to Court of Appeal), N20 Flyover (Onnex-Kubwa Road), Life Junction to Ring Road III, Kabusa-Takushara and Kabusa-Ketti Access Roads,15km Road (A2 Junction to Pai, Kwali Area Council), Ushafa, War College, and Army Checkpoint Roads in Bwari Area Council.
He further stated that the FCT Executive Committee approved the upgrade of streetlights along Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway (Ring Road I) to modern standards.

Also, the acting executive secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, explained that the project was part of seven memos approved by the committee.
He noted that the current lighting system, installed 15 years ago, is outdated and insufficient.

“If you pass there at night, you’ll see that most parts of the road are in darkness. The lights have become obsolete and no longer bright enough,” Dauda said.
He added that the upgrade will introduce hybrid street lighting technology, enhancing visibility, security, and nighttime accessibility on the 14-kilometer, 10-lane expressway from Maitama to Gudu.

The event is expected to highlight the administration’s strides in infrastructure development as it marks two years under President Tinubu’s leadership.
