Adamawa Boys, Girls Qualify For 25th MILO Secondary Schools Basketball Championship

The boys’ and girls’ teams from Adamawa State have successfully qualified for the national finals of the 25th MILO Secondary Schools Basketball Championship after finishing at the top of the Savannah Conference.

The Savannah Conference, held at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, showcased the best teams from Yobe, Borno, Taraba, Zamfara, Gombe, Katsina, Bauchi, Jigawa, and the host, Kano. The victorious teams from Adamawa will represent the region at the national finals, scheduled to take place from 20th to 27th June 2025, at the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

In the girls’ final, Government Girls Secondary School, Yola, delivered a commanding performance, securing a 75-33 victory over Ahmadiyya Secondary School from Kano State. The boys’ final was equally thrilling, with Government Secondary School, Numan, also from Adamawa, triumphing with a 71-45 win against Kano’s Ahmadiyya Secondary School.

The matches highlighted the exceptional skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship displayed by the young athletes. Purami Dickson, a student from Government Girls Secondary School, was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the girls’ category.

Upon reflecting on her achievement, she expressed her joy, stating, “I am overjoyed. It’s a dream come true. I thank God, my teammates, and MILO for this opportunity. It’s a moment I will never forget.”
