Kebbi Timber Market Fire: Gov Idris Donates N50m To Victims

Following the recent outbreak of fire that destroyed properties worth N 192.7 million at the Birnin Kebbi Timber Market at Kara in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris has donated N50 million to the victims.

On his return, the governor, who was outside the country performing the hajj in Saudi Arabia when the incident occurred, visited the scene and assessed the damages. He sympathised with the victims and donated N50 million to them on behalf of the government.

He also donated an additional N10 million from his pocket to the victims.

Receiving the donation, Bello Dansambo, chairman of the Timber Market Association of the state, thanked the governor for the donations and assured him of the prompt disbursement of all the donations received by the association to the victims affected by the inferno.

He disclosed that about nine timber merchants were identified as victims affected by the fire outbreak.
