The Centre for Faith-Based Policy (CFBP) has launch its second 10 weeks intensive certificate program tagged: Christian Values and Public Policy: Writing, Analysis, and Advocacy with young Nigerian Christian professionals from all around the world into an hybrid.

This program debuted last year with a first cohort, now Alumni, of 23 exceptional christian youths who are now policy writers and advocates, putting out position papers, policy recommendations and all pursuing a cause they hold dearly to their heart.

Just before this years’ cohort kicked off, the center organised a field visit for the Alumni to the National Assembly where plenary of both chambers were observed and courtesy visits was done to some principal officers.

The executive director Mr Alex Adekunle James said that the Center for Faith Based Policy is an initiative of Rivers in the Desert Nigeria (RID Nigeria), a faith-based civil society organization committed to equipping christian changemakers for national transformation, the Centre is redefining what it means for Christians to engage in politics and governance.

He emphasized a crucial yet often overlooked truth: while we rightly assess proposed policies based on their merits and flaws, we must also scrutinize the people behind them.

He highlighted that a policy is never neutral—it reflects the values, beliefs, and sometimes hidden agendas of its advocates. This is why Christians, entrusted with a divine mandate for societal transformation, must rise to the occasion and engage policy spaces with both wisdom and intentionality.

This year’s faculty is a powerhouse of seasoned professionals and national influencers and leaders at the peak of their fields, shaping conversations in policy, media, governance, and faith, he said.”

The lineup includes Seun Okinbaloye, acclaimed host of Politics Today on Channels Television; Rev. (Dr.) William Okoye, former Aso Rock chaplain to two Nigerian presidents; Sarah Adekunle James, respected policy consultant; Hon. Rimamde Kwewum, member of the 9th House of Representatives; Ms. Chimdi Neliaku, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House; Senator Gbolahan Dada of the 8th National Assembly; and Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda, Minority Speaker of the House of Reps. Also featured are Sokobaa Egbeja, Ibrahim Faruk, and Emmanuel Effiong—experts in constitutional law, civic engagement, and strategic advocacy.

He called on the Church to shape national policy with Kingdom values that will bring unmatched depth and clarity to the intersection of faith and public policy.

He said, already, the experience is resonating deeply with participants—Christian professionals from education, law, healthcare, business, media, and civil society—who describe it as transformative. “I’ve attended several policy trainings in the past, but nothing as spiritually grounding and intellectually rigorous as this,” remarked one participant. “It’s not just about knowing the law—it’s about knowing how to influence it righteously.”

“Over the coming weeks, the cohort will explore modules in biblical frameworks for policy formation, legislative engagement, constitutional advocacy, governance ethics, and strategic communications—all delivered through case studies, simulations, and real-time policy critique, he said.”

More than a course, the Centre for Faith-Based Policy is a growing community of conviction. It is where the Church reclaims her voice—not just in pulpits, but in governance, policy rooms, and political conversations.

“In a time when Nigeria urgently needs principled voices in power, the Centre is answering the call. And as it continues to equip and unleash a battalion of Christian policy advocates into Nigeria’s governance landscape, he concluded.”
