They made the appeal during a training organised by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) in partnership with the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation (NKF) yesterday.
The training, which aims to empower young learners with knowledge of their digital rights and online safety, is expected to benefit around 4,000 students across Bauchi, Jigawa, Kano and the (FCT).

Students from JIBWIS Science Secondary School and Assasul Islam Academy in Jama’are local government area expressed enthusiasm on the training, describing it as a major step towards improving both their academic performance and digital literacy.

“This training will help us become more digitally literate and enhance our academic performance,” said Maryam Harisu Dauda, Asiya Shamaki, Rabi’atu Shitu Musa, and Muh’d Rabi’u Ibrahim, all from Jama’are.
Participants from Government Junior Secondary School, Itas, in Itas-Gadau local government area also shared how the training opened their eyes to responsible digital engagement.

“Before this, we barely had access to smartphones and didn’t understand how to stay safe online,” said Ibrahim Khalil Umar, Ibrahim Muh’d Ibrahim, Khadija Kabir Shehu and Hamida Harisu Aliyu.
