Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have busted a syndicate of cultists said to be specialising in organised crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes, arresting two suspected ring leaders and recovering offensive weapons.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP TImfon John, who spoke with  journalists yesterday, explained that the smashing of the group followed diligent implementation of intelligence volunteered by good-spirited members of the civil society.

She said, “Following a tip-off received around 0100 hours, operatives of the Command arrested two individuals on Iyah Street, Uyo, the state capital. The suspects were identified as Donald Iwat  and Daniel Bruno.”
