The All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State chapter has denied issuing any directive on commencement of zoning activities ahead of party’s primary and 2027 general elections.
A statement issued by the state APC publicity secretary, Benedict Yawe, on Friday, said ongoing zoning exercise in some local government areas should be put on hold pending official communication from the state secretariat of the party.
APC further directed that political activities across the 23 Local Government Areas must be carried out in due consultation with designated lead point men and local government party chairmen, and in strict adherence to the provisions of the party’s constitution.
According to the statement, “The State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Benue State, wishes to clarify that it has not issued any directive for the commencement of zoning activities in any part of the state.
“The party notes with concern reports of ongoing zoning exercises in some Local Government Areas and states unequivocally that such activities are unauthorised.
“APC members and stakeholders are urged to disregard any claims or arrangements suggesting otherwise and to await formal guidelines from the appropriate Party authorities.
The Party in Benue State remains committed to due process, unity, and internal democracy,” Yawe stated.
