The Presidency has declared that President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term in office, saying the impact of his administration’s economic reforms and development projects across the country has strengthened his case for re-election in 2027.

It noted that the achievements recorded by Tinubu in the last three and half years will speak for him in next year’s polls.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Tunde Rahman stated this at the inspection tour of federal and state governments projects organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team in Kogi state.

Rahman noted that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration has freed up resources which enabled state governments to embark on impactful infrastructural development projects.

He applauded Govenror Usman Ahmed Ododo for judiciously deploying the funds for interventions in the areas of healthcare, road infrastructure, education, among others across several local government areas of the state.

Rahman said such interventions by Ododo and other govenrors, especially those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have been “possible by the reforms that Mr President has put in place.

“The reforms have free resources to the sub-nationals and that’s why you have projects here. I think president has done so well to deserve second term and I think his achievement will speak for him to be able to get re-elected in 2027.

The Director of Media and Publicity, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described Governor Ododo as humble, fair and moderate, adding that the projects reflect those qualities.

“If you know Governor Ododo very well, you know that he’s very humble. He has a sense of fairness. He has a sense of moderation. And this spoke to some of the projects that we have seen.”

Speaking after inspection of the Model Science Secondary School, Okebukun in Kogi West District, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, said the investment of the state government in Model Science Secondary Schools is to reverse the trend of parents moving their children to private schools.

Fanwo said the quality of facilities in the new public schools now surpassed what is obtainable in most private schools in the state.

He noted that the state has put in place a multi-layered architecture to protect students and staff, especially following past incidents.

“With what happened in Osara, we have been able to put technology as part of our security architecture. And that is helping us a great deal. So, our students are very safe,”he said.

Fanwo further emphasised that education and health were top priorities under the “governance pillars” of the Ododo administration.

The commissioner noted that beyond building facilities, the government is also focused on access and affordability.

“In most of the villages that you see in Kogi state, they have brought those remodeled primary health care centers to the place.

“Also on affordability, you know, our health insurance scheme is one of the best in the country, not just because we have just commissioned a new fantastic Head Office for it, but because it is reaching the grassroots,” he said.

Fanwo added that pregnant women and children aged zero to six now access free medical care as part of the government’s social security agenda.

At the Kogi State University, Kabba, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Kehinde Temitope Eniola, said the institution is targeting August for the completion of new student hostels.

Eniola said the university is currently constructing a 300-room hostel for male students designed to also teach hygiene and self-care, adding that the design of the hostel prioritises students’ welfare and independent living.

During a visit to the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Director of Physical Planning, Dr Mohammed Audu said the student population had risen from 240 students in 2020 to 6,000 in 2026.

He said the university currently has nine faculties and a College of Medical Sciences offering courses in Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Anatomy.

At the channelisation of reclamation project in Kabba/Bunu local government area, the Commissioner for Environmental and Ecological Management, Joseph Oluwasegun said such projects sited accross the three senatorial districts of the state were in fulfillment of the campaign promises of govenror Ododo to reclaim degraded lands.

“The project you see here is the channelisation of reclamation project. This water has claimed many lives in Kabba and it has washed away many farmlands. So, the people in Kabba appreciate the government for what it is doing and I will use this medium too to appreciate the President of the nation for being there with us at all times.

“If not the president has not made the environment very conducive for Kogi State to thrive, it would have been difficult for the state government to work in collaboration with any Word Bank Project to achieve this,” he said.

The chairman of Kabba/Bunu local government council, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael said before the project, so many farmlands were washed off every rainy season as the area is always submerged with flood.

He thanked President Tinubu for creating the enabling environment for all the governors, including Ododo

to work, assuring that “APC will win from head to bottom as far Kabba/Bunu and Kogi state are concerned.

Also, the Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Abdulsalami Ozigi, conducted the team round the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene-Auchi Highway, Lokoja-Benin highway and the 20-kilometre Okene Bypass linking Auchi, Benin and the southern corridor.

He stated that work on the roads progressed steadily, following the alarm raised by the state government and the subsequent visit by the Works Minister, David Umahi.

At the upgraded Primary Healthcare Centre in Obuburu, Adavi local government area, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Muazu Musa, said the facility was among 88 primary healthcare centres revitalised under the World Bank-supported IMPACT project as well as 70 upgraded by the state government and others supported by development partners.

Musa said the hospital now provides specialist services that previously required referrals outside the state and houses Kogi’s only Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility.

The Kogi State Health Commissioner, Dr Abdulazeez Adeiza, enumerated the facilities being provided by the hospital to include MRI and CT scanners, renal dialysis services and Nigeria’s only hospital-based hyperbaric oxygen treatment chamber.

Adeiza said medical students hostels and staff accommodation had been completed ahead of clinical training, while solar powered infrastructure is being installed to reduce dependence on the national grid.
