Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim and other prominent Nigerians are expected to attend the 16th Peace Achievers International Awards 2026.
The annual event, which is in its 16th edition, will bring together political leaders, humanitarian workers, business executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, philanthropists, entertainers, media practitioners, civil society actors and other stakeholders to celebrate individuals and organisations making contributions to society.
The convener, Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, said the 2026 edition would take place on November 7 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
Amafibe, who issued a press statement, said this year’s awards will recognise achievements in peacebuilding, leadership, humanitarian service, social development, entrepreneurship, public service, education, healthcare, entertainment, media and community development.
He said the awards were not solely focused on professional accomplishments but would also recognise the impact individuals and institutions had made in their communities and society.
Amafibe said the event would provide an opportunity to honour people whose work reflects values including peace, integrity, innovation, compassion, service and excellence, while encouraging others to contribute positively to society.
He noted that peace goes beyond the absence of conflict, stressing that it also encompasses inclusion, dialogue, mutual respect, opportunity and the ability of individuals and communities to work together towards common goals.
According to him, the 16th edition would therefore serve both as a celebration of achievements and a platform for promoting conversations around peace, unity and responsible leadership.
The convener said the event would also highlight the contributions of individuals from different generations and sectors, describing the platform as an avenue to inspire young people to pursue excellence, overcome challenges and use their talents and influence for the benefit of society.
He said the successful hosting of the awards over 16 editions demonstrated the enduring relevance of recognising individuals and organisations that contribute to peace, development and social progress.
Amafibe added that this year’s edition would build on the legacy of previous editions, with renewed emphasis on leadership, impact, service and excellence.
The 16th Peace Achievers International Awards 2026 is expected to bring together influential stakeholders and celebrate individuals and organisations whose efforts contribute to a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous society.
