An activist and social crusader, Hon. Paul Amadi, has called on the nation’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security forces to play their roles professionally and fairly to ensure credible elections in Nigeria.

Amadi, who made the call in a statement on Wednesday, wished them a safe and successful completion of their tasks in conducting the elections and protecting voters and the election integrity.

‘’In the 62 years of our independence as a nation. I have not seen nor heard of a terrible moment or season like we have witnessed close to 8 years now.

“In spite of corruptions and greed on the part of our past leaders, we have all managed to earn genuine living and taken pride in ourselves as a people. Our lives have turned into living hell due to our ‘poor choice of leadership’,” he said.

The activist further called for a responsible work on the side of the INEC and the security forces, in order to live up to expectations.

‘’My friends across the security apparatus, INEC and all those working directly to conduct this election, you are the last hope for Nigeria. You owe her a one in a lifetime duty to save her from turning into ruins.

“And this is not an over exaggeration, it is not an embellishment, it is not preaching doom, it is not scare-tactics. It is a reality ahead of all of us we must confront and, by God, you are at the forefront of this looming debacle.

“Your actions or inactions would determine if you, your children, your loved ones, your fellow Nigerians, would live or die. The future of Nigeria is in your hands. If you choose money over duty, if you choose ethnic affiliation over patriotism.

“I believe we have lost over a million of us the past 8 years directly and indirectly, due to the ongoing wars against terrorism, against banditry, due to hunger and preventable diseases, and a host of other vices and negligence, crimes and diabolism, poor mental health,” he added.
