Again, Federal Government Places Ekiti, Osun On Flood Alert

A Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and national coordinator, North-west Alliance for Good Governance, Hon Abdullahi Umar, has reacted to the probe of key opposition stakeholders and members of the ADC, by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Hon Umar said, ” it is quite intriguing, the fact that key members of the opposition, which includes Sen Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, and Sen David Mark, national chairman of our great party the ADC, were harassed in the name of probe by the EFCC. While HE Waziri Tambuwal was made to pass the night at the EFCC facility, the probe of Sen David Mark, raises serious concern, considering the fact he left office as Senate president over 10 years ago. The timing is suspect as no previous charge was ever made against him.”

He continued, “What is more appalling is, this is happening right under the nose of Mr president, and I want to believe he is not aware of this shenanigans. It must obviously be the handiwork of overzealous aides who want to, at all cost impress the power brokers in the Aso Rock Villa.”

Umar further said, ” If the president is not aware, now he knows, he should act fast. Because, this is a rape of democracy and blatant disregard to principles of civility and freedom. Mr President was a key opposition figure throughout his political career. Notably, a Two-term Governor in an opposition party, the AD in Lagos State, while PDP was in-charge during President Obasanjo administration. He challenged institutions notably, the president Good luck Jonathan.”

He maintained that those behind such abuse of power should know, the opposition, and particularly the ADC would never be silenced, adding that the interest of everyday toiling Nigerian must be protected.
