National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a two-day ultimatum to inspector general of police, Usman Alkali Baba and the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari for the release of Aminullah Adamu of Federal University, Dutse or face a nationwide massive demonstration by the students.
The northwest treasurer of the association, comrade Bashir Suleiman Limanci announced this during a press conference organised by the union in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
He said the union is not in support of the unnecessary social media posting made by Aminullah iAdamu in which the first lady felt offended.
Limanci, however stated that the union equally condemned the alleged unlawful arrest, detention and beating of Aminullah on the alleged order of the first lady.
The association said Aminullah who is a final year student of the university is about to start writing his final examination in the next five days.
” NANS is calling on security and all parties involved in the arrest to unconditionally release him and also avoid any act that may spoil or temper his academic activities.
“We are very much concern on his safety and academic activities, so after the elapsing of the two days ultimatum, the association in collaboration with other civil societies, students and trade unions , human right groups will use all necessary measures to ensure his release/including taken to the streets for peaceful demonstration,” the declared.
While contacted on the arrest of Aminullah Adamu , the spokesperson of the Federal University Dutse, Comrade Abdullahi Anako said the student was arrested on 8th November 2022.
Abdullahi Anako added that, the university authorities have spoken to the parent of Aminullah who has engaged the services of a lawyer to handle the matter and they are hopeful of amicable resolution soon.
