Two camps of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State controlled by governor Hyacinth Alia and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume have set to conduct parallel state congress that would produce new excos tomorrow Tuesday.
Governor Hyacinth Alia’s camp led by Chief Ben Omale as the APC state chairman, while Akume’s camp headed by Austin Agada, had held separate ward, local government congresses and produced parallel excos.
In a statement issued by Benue State APC organising secretary, James Ornguga, loyal to Governor Hyacinth Alia said the party’s state congress will hold tomorrow at IBB Square, ”Ahead of tomorrow’s state congress. Chairmen, secretaries and members of the APC Congress committees sent to Benue state from APC National Headquarters meet with INEC’s resident electoral commissioner, Prof. Sam Egwu and his team to fine tune arrangements.All is now set for the APC State Congress holding tomorrow at IBB Square, Makurdi by 11am,” Ornguga stated.
On the other hand, APC State Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, loyal to Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume’s camp said it constituted State congress central planning and sub committees headed by the former Ambassador, Prof Iorwuese Hagher.
“In line with the constitutional guidelines for the conduct of nationwide congresses as approved by the National Working Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Benue State Working Committee of the APC under the leadership of Comrade Austin Agada, has constituted a central planning committee and relevant sub-committees to ensure a seamless, transparent, and successful state congress,” he said.
