Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has expressed confidence that Neymar is on the right path to full fitness ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Amid ongoing debate over Neymar’s place in Brazil’s squad, Ancelotti emphasised that selection will be strictly based on physical readiness, making it clear that reputation alone will not guarantee inclusion.
“He has two months to prove he still has the qualities to play at the World Cup,” Ancelotti said. “I believe he can return to 100 per cent. I’ve said it before — only players who are fully fit will be selected.”
The former Real Madrid manager acknowledged Neymar’s encouraging progress following a serious knee injury, noting that the forward has already shown signs of rediscovering form.
“After his injury, he has made a strong comeback and is scoring goals. He needs to continue in this direction and improve his fitness. He is on the right track,” he added.
Now playing for Santos FC, Neymar remains a central figure in Brazil’s football history. The forward is the nation’s all-time leading scorer, with an impressive 79 goals and 59 assists in 128 international appearances.
With the World Cup on the horizon, all eyes will be on Neymar’s fitness and form as he looks to secure his place in Ancelotti’s plans and lead Brazil’s quest for global glory.
