All Progressives Congress (APC) Concerned Group in Bauchi State has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara as a minister in his cabinet.
The group, while recalling that the former speaker played a significant role in the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC Presidential flagbearer, stressing that Dogara worked tirelessly by canvassing support for his candidature.
The chairman of the group, Alhaji Musa Kawule in an interview with the press in Bauchi yesterday, noted that despite Dogara’s stand on Muslim-Muslim ticket, he firmly remained in the APC and was a strong pillar in the party’s gubernatorial campaign in Bauchi for Ambassador Sadique Abubakar whose election results are now in petition tribunal.
Kawule described the former speaker as a detribalised Nigerian, and advised the Nigerian President to critically and seriously consider Hon Dogara for any appropriate appointive office in the government, at least to comfort his large followership in the APC not only in Bauchi state, but across the length and breath of the country.
Kawule expressed regret that despite the massive voting of the APC in the recent polls, some unscrupulous elements, including some disgruntled party members marred the elections with anti-party activities, rigging, over-voting and other electoral malpractices to steal the party’s victory.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should discard those hypocritical members of the APC who are in the habit of dissuading him against the appointment of Hon. Yakubu Dogara into the APC-led Federal Government. Mr. The President should look before he leap”.
“Dogara’s achievements are too numerous to mention, he was instrumental to the establishment of the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) where a lot of development has already taken place in the region. He has also brought development to Bauchi state where he built schools, constructed roads, places of worship and empowered people of the state, especially in his constituency,” he said.
Also speaking, a strong pillar of the group, Mr. Iliya Bitrus Ndit however asked Hon. Dogara to accept whichever type of appointment Mr. President might be able to afford him, saying “Having been on the same party platform, they ought to move together, this is just the first term of the Tinubu tenure”.
Bibiti expressed optimism that APC in Bauchi would reclaim its gubernatorial stolen victory at the election petitions tribunal.
He urged President Tinubu to consider Bauchi state for ministerial appointment by appointing Dogara who is one of the strong pillars of APC in the state, pointing out that he worked for the progress of the party where he delivered his constituency and was instrumental to the many of seats won by the APC in the National Assembly.
On his part, one of the members of the group, Mr. Kashim Ibrahim said that with the likes of Dogara in Tinubu’s cabinet, the president will record more development for the country.
“No matter the great plans President Tinubu has for the country, if he does not have the right people in his government, he cannot achieve much, no matter how hard he tries. When the right people are in place, the work is easier and the country will be positioned for more development,” he said.
